Who cares if he's gay or not?
...not me.

A terrific project!
This series of events is a total win for everyone involved - not just the guy who comes out on top, but also the artists, performers, venues, and charities who benefit from the business and exposure. From my involvement in the background, I saw the contestants gain confidence and skills and make great connections and friendships. Our community needs more projects like this - and more people like Terry Costa who do it for the right reasons. Bravo! Encore!

We Need More Of These ?
Really? Does the gay community need more of these silly superficial events that just go to stroke already inflated ego's? I say probably not. The charity aspect of this event is very positive but I am sure there are other ways to raise funds.

Do it
If you can come up with other ways to raise money, then by all means please do it. Yes, we need events like this AND others. Let's not be negative and throw stones at our community leaders for doing something positive. Don't just talk - act!

BUT
What exactly is the point of Mr. Gay? Is he really special now? If I see him, should I act differently? Is he on his way to super-stardom now? I actually cannot believe there is an audience for this. The charity money is great, but I find the whole "MR. GAY" thing just strange. Is he my leader now because some people think he's purdy?

Mr Gay Canada & Gay Top Model
FYI, Mr Gay Canada is produced by gaywhistler.com and Gay Top Model is produced by Mirateca Arts - two different projects with different goals. To learn all about Gay Top Model go to http://www.gaytopmodel.com

Really.....
What ..Marc & Dave... are you doing to raise funds for our community? Shame on you I say. How petty to poo poo an event that raises money for people that need it. No harm was done. No foul. What we need is more support & less division. At the end of the day we are still a community & I for one think we should remain so. If no harm is done we should support those that support us.

It's community
This is a community event. It involves dozens of people of different walks of life. Not only is it fun and beneficial to the young men who become contestants, but it showcases many of the talented artists in the city, from the sponsors of the competition through to the fabulous entertainers of the finale. There are easier ways to raise the charity money but those ways are not guaranteed to build the friendships which develop during the months leading up to this event.

Sad, really
This is just sad. All we need is for gay men to be protrayed as objects. I thought we might be making progress, but no.
