On February 24th and 25th 2012, at 8pm, V Day The Sexual Assault Support Centre (SASC) in partnership with Minwaashin Lodge will present a two night only benefit reading of Eve Ensler’s award winning play The Vagina Monologues at The Bronson Centre, 211 Bronson Ave., Ottawa. Tickets start at $20 in advance, $25 at the door and $100 for Sponsor (reserved seating, tax receipt and t-shirt). Advanced tickets can be purchased online http://thevaginamonologuesottawa.eventsbot.com/ and in the community at Mother Tongue Books (1067 Bank St.) and Venus Envy (320 Lisgar Ave.). This benefit production is sponsored by CelebrateHER.org, Rytec and CHUO FM 89.1. The proceeds of this year’s production will go towards two local charities working to end violence against women: The Sexual Assault Support Centre of Ottawa (SASC) and Minwaashin Lodge Aboriginal Women’s Support Centre. Also, 10% of proceeds will go towards the VDay 2012 spotlight campaign – Women and Girls of Haiti. What are The Vagina Monologues? Hailed by The New York Times as "funny" and "poignant" and by the Daily News as "intelligent" and "courageous," The Vagina Monologues, which was first performed off-Broadway by Ms. Ensler, dives into the mystery, humor, pain, power, wisdom, outrage and excitement buried in women’s experiences. V Day The Sexual Assault Support Centre of Ottawa is a local effort of 50 + diverse women from the Ottawa region volunteering their time, energy and passion for ending violence against women within the worldwide context of the 2012 V-Day Campaign.
