Toronto’s Triggerfish water polo team is coming home with a bronze medal from the World Outgames in Copenhagen. The team beat out a San Francisco in a hard-won game. 

“It was a nail-biter of a game,” says Brendan Shulz who plays Driver on the team. “We were tied 6-6 to the last 30 seconds.”

Toronto scored to take the lead but San Francisco then tied it up, forcing the match into overtime.

“It went into two periods of overtime,” says Shluz. “We scored with one-and-half minutes left, giving us a bronze.”

“It was amazing,” says goalie Charles Pavia.  “It was the toughest competition I’ve been in.”

The bronze medal is accompanied with a lot of happy memories from the Outgames in Copenhagen which is awash in Pride flags.

“The city has been very welcoming,” says Scott McVittie, who plays Hole Set.
