Calgary Stampeders running back Jon Cornish has joined Toronto Argonauts players in publicly voicing support for gay rights.

"Canadians as a whole are very accepting," says Cornish, whose mother is a lesbian. "I'm perfectly fine with it."

Despite his own acceptance, Cornish is doubtful many of his teammates would welcome a gay player. "The makeup of these locker rooms . . . a lot of people are very uncomfortable with it," he says.

The Stampeders take on the Argonauts in the Grey Cup championship game on Sunday, Nov 25.
