Queer queer QUEER!

VANCOUVER! I'm flying back to you today from Montreal and can't wait to get back to you. Apparently I've missed the best part of summer, but I'm coming back with something amazing:

Thank you for all the support and votes over the past couple months. I won this because of you. And thank you to Tourisme Montreal, the City of Montreal and all the fabulous people who live here, the incomparable Daniel Baylis, Sam, Joanie, Rosalie, Francois... and my fellow contestants Travis, Corey, Blake and yes, even Nathan.

Here is the video recap from our final day of competition... and yes, you won't have to hear me talk about this again. Tomorrow I'll be back to Vancouver-based blogging. Can't wait to see you all!

Spice Gurls do Montreal

I gave you a teaser yesterday of our drag performance for Day 4 of Montreal's Queer of the Year contest. The four other contestants and I performed "Stop" by the Spice Girls. Thousand person audience? Group choreography? Montreal Pride?

Yeah we did.

Here's our full performance:

And here's the recap rom Day 4:

I still need your votes at http://www.queeroftheyearcontest.com - Check back this weekend to see who takes the competition.

I make an UGLY lady

Although I've been feeling SUPER mainstream, I’m still keeping it real from Montreal this week. Holla!

We’re 50% through the competition, and despite wondering if Montreal was going to be the answer to the big “What am I doing with my life” question, I’m pretty happy to say that I miss Vancouver and can’t wait to get back to all the people that make my life what it is.

Today we had a talent challenge — who’s the bigger drag queen? My second time in face definitely gave me mad respect for all the performers I know in Van: Joan-E, Robyn Graves, Jaylene, Raye Sunshine, Isolde N Barron, Miss Cotton, Symone, Carlotta, Connie Smudge, Syren…

I also really miss boyfriend Steve. Sad face. Wilted rose.

Here’s a teaser for Day 4 of the competition. Last night, we competed as a team and performed the Spice Girls' “Stop”… check http://www.queeroftheyearcontest.com later today for a full video.

Kisses from Montreal. Thanks for your support and keep voting for Team Vancouver!!!

xx S

Queer of the Year...yes, it's still happening

I wasn't quite sure about this contest when I showed up in Montreal on Monday, but there is a full production team (in addition to all the support staff and advertising agency support), and they are producing some pretty great videos along with some pretty spectacular stunts for us here.

Sure, Tourism Vancouver is going to hunt me down and murderize me when I'm back in town for saying this, but I'm okay with that. Here's a teaser of the content you'll find tomorrow at the Queer of the Year(http://www.queeroftheyearcontest.com/) site.

Here's a recap from Day 2:

And did I mention that boyfriend Steve got a shout-out for the competition on Lainey Gossip

Yeah, no big d... no wait, BIG DEAL!

Queer of the Year - Day 2

When's the last time you spent 16 hours with a group of virtual strangers? I'm pretty sure my group in Montreal is ready to get stabby with me. And I don't blame them. We went shopping today in the Atwater Market around 6am PST. Atwater is an outdoor/indoor market, sort of like Granville Island without the view. On the flipside, it had waaaaay more produce and meats and cheeses.

We attended Ateliers & Saveurs, a cooking school in old Montreal this morning to learn how to cook from a crack team of chefs and mixologists. It was a pretty amazing experience and a comparable one in Vancouver would be with the Dirty Apron, or any other reputable local cooking school.

Here are some shots from today. I still need your votes, so please don't hesitate to visit http://www.queeroftheyearcontest.com and click on the vote button. Thanks!!!

Trying to get the culinary masterminds to vote Team Horlor

Picking out my contribution to yesterday's challenge from the lobster tank... cold blooded!

Chef Whore... I know, right?

Check the QOTY website later today for videos from our cooking challenge. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll binge and purge. It's that good. I promise.
