Samantha Ronson's mom feared for her daughter with 'psychotic' Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan, Ann Dexter-Jones, Samantha Ronson.

Socialite Ann Dexter-Jones has opened up to the Daily Mail about her daughter Samantha Ronson's ill-fated union with Lindsay Lohan. In the article, she admits her fears that the relationship would end in tragedy because of Lindsay's unstable behaviour:

"I was seriously anxious about Samantha’s safety and wellbeing. I feared tragedy," Ann says. "It got to a point that I wasn’t sleeping very well."

The endpoint for Samantha's mother came during a hotel opening party in Dubai in 2008 when Lohan threw herself on the floor, rolling around and screaming because she wasn't getting enough attention. "Suddenly, without any warning, Lindsay flung herself on to the thick carpet and started to roll around screaming like a child," Ann reveals. "It seemed she was upset that people, including Samantha, were not paying her enough attention. To my mind, it was classic psychotic behaviour. I took Lindsay aside and told her not to make a spectacle of herself. She was clearly out of control and spoiling for a fight."

The morning after Lindsay's eratic behaviour, Ann let the troubled twosome know she could no longer condone their relationship. "When I saw for myself just how volatile Lohan was, I realised that the relationship was not healthy," Ann says. "The morning after her tantrum – and believe me, that was not the worst of it – I told them both that I could no longer support them as a couple, that I no longer approved of them being together and that Lindsay was no longer welcome in my home."

As for whether Lindsay's destruction was fuelled by drugs, Ann is keeping to herself, although she confesses, "I know stuff, but I don’t want to go into it. I just knew that it was not a good place for my child to be, but sometimes a parent’s objection only makes it more exciting."

Lindsay Lohan as a gay icon

I think all the negative reviews about Lindsay Lohan’s performance in Liz & Dick are unwarranted. She’s a great actress! She was raw and fully alive in her performance. The film’s clichéd writing was what made Lifetime’s bio-pic about Hollywood star-crossed lovers Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor a mediocre portrayal of one of the most iconic love stories of the 20th century.

I don’t think people are able to separate Lindsay’s personal life from her acting. She’s being unfairly picked apart because critics aren’t looking at her work objectively. I found her entertaining and emotional. I thought Lindsay was believable as Elizabeth, and her version of the screen legend was worth the hour and a half of my day. There isn't a boring frame in the film filled with old Hollywood allurement. Liz & Dick did feel like a guilty pleasure and is worth the indulgence.

Lindsay’s fame is from an entirely different world than Elizabeth’s, but like her predecessor, she knows how to get people talking. She was a trending topic on Twitter last night, and three and a half million people tuned in to see her perform on Lifetime. She not only possesses Elizabeth's liquid eyes, but the power they held, making it unable to look away. And if while looking all you saw is a trainwreck, I think you missed the beauty of the ride.

If Elizabeth were a child star coming into adulthood in a century fuelled by instant celebrity, social media and the intrusiveness of modern fame, her life would resemble that of Lindsay Lohan, who, like Elizabeth before her, is a product of her time.

They’re both gay icons. While Elizabeth won gay hearts with her AIDS activism and larger-than-life glamour, I can’t keep track of all the gays in their 20s who grew up watching Lindsay’s movies (I think I lost my virginity to Mean Girls) and still worship her. She secured the respect of her admirers for not only dating a woman, Samantha Ronson, but for being defiant about it. In a recent interview about their toxic relationship, Lindsay revealed that she was “bold enough to say, ‘Yeah, I like a girl. And?’”

Through the years, Elizabeth’s fans remained loyal because they liked to live vicariously through her. Lindsay’s fans are the same. Vodka, Dexedrine and diamonds (stolen or otherwise) included.

James Deen is alive and we've been spelling his name wrong this whole time

Two of the most controversial bisexuals in Hollywood, writer Bret Easton Ellis and Lindsay Lohan, teamed up earlier this year to film The Canyons with adult actor turned mainstream movie star James Deen. As if his nine-inch dick alone wasn't enough to get me to see this film; the trailer doesn't look half bad. If her Liz & Dick comeback is more like a disaster, which, judging by Lifetime's trailer, it definitely will be, Lindsay might just have a future starring in films with pornstars:

Rosie O'Donnell on Lindsay Lohan

I love 'em both, but I have to go with Rosie on this one. While on the Today show with Matt Lauer, Star Jones and Donny Deutsch this morning, Matt brought up the fact that Lindsay Lohan is starring as Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime's upcoming biopic Liz & Dick. It was recently decided to film in California instead of Canada as planned, to accommodate Lindsay's legal issues. Rosie said, "I feel very sorry for her. I think she needs a lot of time away. She's had a lot of trouble doing every single movie, including SNL. She was out and not in rehearsal. I think she's not in a place to work."

When Donny Deutsch said, "She's our generation's Elizabeth Taylor!" Rosie shot back, "You're out of your mind! You're a crackhead! The last thing she did good she was 16. I don't think she's right for the role and I don't think she's capable at this point to portray that character."

I think Lindsay is so talented and so beautiful, and growing up with her means that I can't help but want her to succeed. I think she could pull off a young Elizabeth Taylor, but girl does seem to have difficulty focusing, so I hope she's dedicated enough to do the role justice.

These Yu Tsai shots are amazing! Plus, Playboy has given Lindsay the best headline ever: "Lindsay reborn. Classic beauty. Wild child. Silver screen siren. Inmate #2409752. The rise, fall and redemption of America's most fascinating celebrity."
