I think all the negative reviews about Lindsay Lohan’s performance in Liz & Dick are unwarranted. She’s a great actress! She was raw and fully alive in her performance. The film’s clichéd writing was what made Lifetime’s bio-pic about Hollywood star-crossed lovers Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor a mediocre portrayal of one of the most iconic love stories of the 20th century. 

I don’t think people are able to separate Lindsay’s personal life from her acting. She’s being unfairly picked apart because critics aren’t looking at her work objectively. I found her entertaining and emotional. I thought Lindsay was believable as Elizabeth, and her version of the screen legend was worth the hour and a half of my day. There isn't a boring frame in the film filled with old Hollywood allurement. Liz & Dick did feel like a guilty pleasure and is worth the indulgence.

Lindsay’s fame is from an entirely different world than Elizabeth’s, but like her predecessor, she knows how to get people talking. She was a trending topic on Twitter last night, and three and a half million people tuned in to see her perform on Lifetime. She not only possesses Elizabeth's liquid eyes, but the power they held, making it unable to look away. And if while looking all you saw is a trainwreck, I think you missed the beauty of the ride. 

If Elizabeth were a child star coming into adulthood in a century fuelled by instant celebrity, social media and the intrusiveness of modern fame, her life would resemble that of Lindsay Lohan, who, like Elizabeth before her, is a product of her time.

In a recent interview about their toxic relationship, Lindsay revealed that she was “bold enough to say, ‘Yeah, I like a girl. And?’” 

Through the years, Elizabeth’s fans remained loyal because they liked to live vicariously through her. Lindsay’s fans are the same. Vodka, Dexedrine and diamonds (stolen or otherwise) included.

Dame Elizabeth Taylor's jewellery was up for sale yesterday at a Christie's auction in New York City. A reported $115 million was raised, with some pieces selling for 10 times more than expected. Elizabeth was, of course, known for her love of diamonds (and men who gave them to her), with her famous jewels being compared to those of Wallis Simpson, who possessed one of the largest and most decadent jewellery collections in the world.  

A Cartier pearl and diamond necklace given to Elizabeth by her two-time husband Richard Burton was the highest-selling piece, fetching $11,842,500. The necklace was bought in the late '60s for $37,000.

Christie's representative Marc Porter told the New York Post that it was "one of the most extraordinary auctions that Christie's has ever had, and a testament to the affection for Elizabeth Taylor worldwide."

The gems are a good investment. Elizabeth's collection will only increase in value, especially her most iconic pieces.

Her estate has promised that most of the $115 million raised will benefit the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation. 

Surprise, surprise: new reports suggest that Paramount Pictures has secured the rights to Furious Love, a book about Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton's love affair. Elizabeth and Richard were married and divorced twice, with Elizabeth considering him to be the greatest love of her life. They met on the set of Cleopatra in 1962 and caused media uproar when their affair became public, because both were married at the time. 

Reportedly, Martin Scorsese has been approached to direct the film, although he's lined up to direct a Frank Sinatra bio-pic set for release in 2013, as well as a few other projects, so it's not known when filming would begin.

Is it too soon after her death for Hollywood to release an Elizabeth Taylor movie? Considering This Is It was released five minutes after Michael Jackson died, when his dick was still up some 13-year-old cancer patient's ass - I'm surprised it's taken this long.
