Thank you, Brad Pitt

And not just for the wet dreams.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie may not be able to hold off on getting married until everyone has the right to wed the person they love, but really, who can blame them? America's "evolution" towards equality is sad not just because they feel the tedious need to evolve into doing the right thing, but because it's taking them so fucking long to do it. Change takes time, I guess. But time is money and the money is mine Brad Pitt's -- which, along with being one of the gay community's most outspoken allies, is how he's trying to steer America in the right direction.

In support of the Human Rights Campaign, Brad is putting his chequebook where his heart is:

"It’s unbelievable to me that people’s lives and relationships are literally being voted on in a matter of days," Brad says on the campaign website. "In Maine, Maryland, Minnesota and Washington, voters will go to the polls to decide if gay and lesbian couples – our friends and neighbors – are worthy of the same protections as everyone else. But that’s the system we have and I’m not going to back down from the fight for loving and committed couples to have the ability to marry. Especially when groups like the Human Rights Campaign are fighting these battles day-in and day-out. So, here’s what I’m going to do. If you make a contribution to these ballot measure campaigns in the next 24 hours, I’ll double it – every dollar of the way, up to $100,000.”

Nothing is sexier than a man who can write a $100,000 cheque without skipping a beat, especially when it's for a good cause! When Brad Pitt calls us his "friends and neighbors," I think he means it, and I for one would like to thank him. I'd prefer the thanks to include whipped cream and my tongue, but I guess a donation will have to suffice. Actually, it more than suffices. Making Brad spend money because of me kind of makes me feel like his whore . . .

I think I could get used to this.

Every day is Halloween

Just in time for the holiday, spook goddess Sharon Needles has released a single called "Every Day Is Halloween." In a message accompanying the song, Sharon says, "A gift, dedicated to all of my fans who have been pushed down and who have risen from the grave, and to those who have redefined beauty. Happy Halloween."

I think it's a beautiful song, and Sharon has a soothing and evocative voice. I'm not surprised that Sharon, who has been working with Jayne County on her upcoming album, has set herself apart by not releasing an Auto-Tune-heavy dance track like every other Drag Race star.

Happy Halloween!

Anderson Cooper's daytime talk show cancelled

First it was the soaps and now it's Anderson. It's official: the gay is leaving daytime!

Warner Bros announced that Cooper's daytime show is getting the axe when it finishes its second season. They released the following statement:

We are extremely proud of Anderson and the show that he and the entire production team have produced. While we made significant changes to the format, set and produced it live in its second season, the series will not be coming back for a third season in a marketplace that has become increasingly difficult to break through. We will continue to deliver top-quality shows throughout next summer.

Cooper also released a statement about the cancellation to The New York Times

I am very proud of the work that our terrific staff has put into launching and sustaining our show for two seasons, I am grateful to Telepictures for giving me the opportunity, and I am indebted to the audience, who have responded so positively. I look forward to doing more great shows this season, and I’m sorry we won’t be continuing, but I have truly enjoyed it.

The ratings just aren't in daytime like they used to be, and I think instead of cancelling shows, they should be considering different ways to count viewers. Most young people I know don't even own televisions. In this day and age, if you can't stream it, it doesn't exist.

But don't worry, you'll still be able to get your daily dose of silver fox on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360.

Gay of the day: Michael Alig

Say what you will about legendary Club Kid Michael Alig; he defined the scene in New York in the '80s and '90s in a way that no one had before and in a way that no one has managed to top since his incarceration over the murder of fellow Club Kid Andre "Angel" Melendez.

Michael and Robert Riggs, aka Freeze, were charged for the murder, which was over a drug debt. Angel was killed from blunt-force trauma to the head by a hammer and for either being injected with Drano or being forced to swallow the toxic household cleaning product.

Angel was kept in a bathtub full of ice until he started to smell. Then Alig dismembered his body, put the pieces in a box, and dumped it in the Hudson River.

Then he started telling everyone about it.

"I know why I blabbed. I must have wanted to stop me," he told The Village Voice's Michael Musto, who was the first to report on Angel's murder. "I was spinning out of control. It's like the old saying: 'What do you have to do to get attention around here - kill somebody?'"

One of the most shameful aspects of this crime was the negligence of the NYPD, who weren't as interested in the murder of a gay Colombian drug dealer as they were in closing down club owner Peter Gatien because of the drugs, including Ecstasy, club-goers were accessing at his venues. It's been suggested the police were more interested in having Alig testify against Gatien, his former boss, than as a murder suspect.

The callousness of the crime was amplified when Alig left New York for a road trip with friends after the murder. He planned on living in Denver but didn't stay away for long. He soon returned to New York and attempted to revive his party career by throwing an event appropriately titled Honey Trap.

In 1997 Michael Alig and Robert Riggs were sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison. Alig's release date is Nov 30, 2016. He has been denied parole three times. Many suspect this is due to his damaging portrayal in Party Monster, the film version of James St James's memoir Disco Bloodbath.

I can't help but admire Michael Alig. Or at least his legacy. I asked myself what that said about me, and I've come to the conclusion that all it says is that I like a great story. Michael certainly has one. He was a boy who wanted to be famous and define a generation. He was a boy who got what he asked for and not only made sure everyone knew it . . . but that they'd never forget.

Don't trust Joe Simpson's alleged boy-toy (or his tan)

I'm doing a slow clap and bowing my head in admiration to Joe Simpson's alleged 21-year-old boy-toy twink Bryce Chandler Hill. You just gotta give it to a fame whore when he gets the attention he's in such dire need of. Especially when he has enough sense to pretend he doesn't want it.

In case you aren't on the up, The National Enquirer is reporting that Jessica and Ashlee Simpson's father, Joe Simpson, is gay and getting it on with Bryce, which is the reason for his divorce from his wife, Tina Simpson. Bryce has taken to Twitter to insist, "Yes I've read the story....it's simply NOT TRUE."

When one of his followers tweeted him some sympathy for all the pesky rumours (the worst thing to ever happen to a wannabe model/actor), Bryce tweeted back, "that's sweet. Thanks. It's crazy to have to deal w/ a complete fabrication."

Translation: "Joe's dick money is sweet. Thank god for it! I'm loving every minute of this complete truth."

I'm just not buying it. You can trust a gold-digging queen as much as you can trust the authenticity of his tan. Besides, the Enquirer source says:

"Bryce claims he’s been dating Joe for roughly a year and absolutely loves to boast about it because he loves being the center of attention. He’s also been quick to tell anyone that will listen that he’s using Joe to climb the showbiz ladder. Bryce is desperate to become famous, he’s done lots of modeling shoots and wants to become an actor. When he met Joe, he knew what a good job he had done in managing Jessica and Ashlee’s careers and wanted a piece of the pie himself. But the sad thing is, he mocks and laughs at Joe behind his back. He doesn’t care for him in the same way Joe does about him."

If that doesn't sound like a description of someone trashy enough to date Joe Simpson, I don't know what does.
