ABC hosts Chris Brown after cancelling Adam Lambert

Apparently domestic violence is okay with ABC, but a gay kiss? No way.

Just days after cancelling Adam Lambert's scheduled appearance on Good Morning America, the ABC show announced it will host Chris Brown for an interview and performance next week.

ABC cancelled Lambert's interview following his performance at the American Music Awards last weekend. The network said it was uncomfortable with Lambert's performance, which featured a gay kiss and some face/crotch grinding with a male backup dancer.

Brown was recently convicted of assaulting his then-girlfriend, singer Rihanna, in an attack earlier this year. He was sentenced to five years of probation and 1,400 hours of community service.

An ABC rep tried to deflect criticism, saying that Brown was booked before Lambert's AMA performance. But really -- that's a weak excuse. An early booking didn't stop them from cancelling on Lambert. ABC should step up and admit what was really at play when they ditched Lambert: homophobia.

Listen to fab magazine's interview with Lambert, in which he talks about the AMAs, sexuality and censorship.

When I first saw this I was astounded. I am a straight, 46 year old married woman who admires and adores Adam and has followed him since day 1 on Idol. I stand behind him in that he did not need to apologize and if an apology is required it should be by ABC and GMA. Are these people kidding!!?? Pathetic is the first word that comes to mind. There is no excuse on this earth that could validate their actions. Good message...assaulting women is ok but freedom of expression is not. Nice job.

I suddenly feel sick to my stomach! I am boycotting ABC, and all of their sponsors because of this. I think once again the message being sent here is that violence, particularly against women is ok. WELL IT ISN'T OK! I am done with this station forever. I will support Adam Lambert because he is not only a tremendous performer, but he has proved over and over again that he is a kind, giving person. He doesn't beat up people. I just can't believe that they think this is ok? They think its ok because they don't care about women. They just want our money. Well their not getting anymore of my money.

In America, objectification of women is okay, and apparently, so is violence against women.

I too am boycotting ABC, how can I ever trust such hypocrasy. The lame excuse that they were concerned Adam would perform something similar to the AMA is too outrageous, what an insult to Adam, and ABC proves their stupidity by have Chris Brown on, oh yes, lets cancel the gay man for freedom of expression (while Eminem sang about rape, and Janet grabbed her crotch and a males dancers,-more hypocrasy)and have a woman beater get some press. ABC, you have lost my whole family as viewers. This is like a personal vendetta against Adam, you have singled him out for what ever sick reason, but ok all the rest. Just pitiful!

Adam is the very best ca

UnBELIEVEABLE>>>>>.. Someone who beats up women, is an appropriate replacement for a wonderful, talented singer who may have made a mistake, but is totally loved by so many of us. You have this Canadian's support ADAM>>>

Seriously, is ABC run by idiots? Now they've not only alienated gay people, but also women. LOL! Someone's out to ruin ABC, and it's ABC itself. Can't wait to see it come crashing down.

ABC! YOU ARE MORE THAN IDIOTS! Your management is leaking clear judgment and common sense. As a huge Adam’s fan, I have to admit the AMA day was a big day for him; maybe the nerves took over him. BUT WAS ONE DAY! ONE OCCASION! For the rest (almost 1 yar), Adam was a model, an inspiration an example of hard work and dedication and modesty. You have replaced him with the recently convicted or assault Chris Brown. NOW-- YOU ARE DOWN DEAD STUPID!

You have many more than 1,500 viewers who are inspired by Adam’s work, talent and charisma. Yet you cave to a tiny minority of irresponsible parents or narrow minded people who can’t possibly have been injured by Lambert’s performance. I am a straight married women for 28 years (with the same man) having Adam’s age children. We are all HUGE Adam’s fans. There are MILLIONS of UNHAPPY ADAM’S FUNS just because your lack of mind opening and lack of clear judgment.
Censoring Adam Lambert’s performance at the AMA was condescending to audiences and to Lambert. Treating male sexuality (straight/gay) differently from woman sexuality (straight/gay) is simply homophobic and discriminatory and you should be ashamed of yourselves.
Will you issue a public apology to Adam Lambert and to his UNHAPPY fans? It’s the least you could do.

Those who believe that Adam did something wrong: don't lose sight of what matters. Adam is an extremely talented and good man, with much to offer and teach us. He's done nothing bad or malicious except to offend a very narrow-minded people who are themselves resistant to progress and fearful of change. This extreme move has generated unnecessary anger and debate which might have resolved had ABC not so soon booked a man convicted of bashing in his girlfriend's face off-air, to 'replace' a guy who let his man-diva fly in a BDSM-themed performance within the context of his song on-air.

Whether ABC chooses to admit it or not, Adam's right about double standards (or are they quadruple by now?). This also implies our society's lack of respect for women, seeing that it isn't that wrong for them to be sexually provocative onstage- because femme lesbians aren't threatening. Why'd they be? They're steering clear of anything to do with the ridiculous testosteronic rule of this planet. Let's see some stone-hard butches get cozy on TV and see what happens. Any takers?

as the 48 year old straight mother of one (20 yrs old) I am DISGUSTED by ABC. I am HORRIFIED that they would host a convicted felon. convicted of beating a woman. My daughter was raped at gunpoint when she was 17 years old, so this is even MORE disgusting to me. even MORE disgusting on the AMA's? M&M and his bragging of raping 17 women during his performance? what the fuck is wrong with this country, when violence against women is more acceptable than a same sex kiss???

give me Adam sucking face with Tommy ANY day over the babblings of a convicted felon.

yes, ABC and GMA owe Adam a HUGE apology. I cant believe this country is so backwards, that exploitation and violence against women is more acceptable than Adam's sexuality. Personally? I find Adam to be hotter than anything/anyone I have seen in over 30 years!!! I have followed him since day ONE, and will continue to follow him as long as he's willing to keep entertaining us!!

ROCK ON, ADAM!!!

ABC you have got to be kidding me? You put on a woman abuser and guilty of it too, in place of a gay out man?
No wonder CABLE TV is beating you out of everything.
Welcome back Fox and American Idol so they can beat you every week in the ratings. By the way what program do you have in the top ten..dried up Dancing with the Stars.

You keep doing what your doing and those 1500 people that complained will be your only viewers.
