Transformations!

The big news yesterday was Cher's lesbian daughter Chastity Bono coming out transgender, announcing plans to transition and become Chaz Bono.  Though supportive, Cher worried aloud about such a radical physical change, right before having her ribs lowered, her cheekbones resharpened and a vocoder installed in her throat.

Following the backlash against their lazy and cruel comments about transgender kids, Sacramento radio hosts Rob Williams and Arnie States did a special show to apologize.  They learned a valuable lesson:  don't make Michael Rowe angry, you wouldn't like him when he's angry!

If you're like me, you probably sat through 'Star Trek' wondering what Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto's love child would look like.  Well, wonder no more:

When did straight sports journalists suddenly become gay rights activists?  All I know is I really want Jeff Pearlman to be right.

Meanwhile, US sports station ESPN is airing a special on the Nebraska college wrestlers who got kicked out for doing porn.  If I'd known all this was going on, I'd have never left the channel on Fashion Television!

And finally, RM Vaughn interviews the creator of 'True Blood' (season 2 starts this Sunday), who says the vampires in her novels are stand-ins for gay people.  Please.  As if I could give up bruschetta.  Then again, of course, there is the nocturnal lifestyle, the screaming when faced with crucifixes, the pasty complexion and a very, very obvious joke about sucking.

Have a great weekend!

Jealous, much?

Be warned:  the internet will blow up tonight at 11pm EST when the final two-hour episode of "Battlestar Galactica" ends, having no doubt thrilled and/or angered its legion of fans.  But BSG writer Jane Espenson (also pulling double-duty on the creepy-sexy "Dollhouse") reminds us that there's still more to come and the show's sci-fi/soap-opera/prequel spin-off "Caprica" will also include gay characters. Hopefully the next series will capture both the brilliant heights of BSG and its gratuitous use of actors in towels:

I'm less excited about the new movie "I Love You, Man" -- despite my obvious interest in its costars -- because I'm just tired of this giggly high-school "bromance" meme but The Globe and Mail's RM Vaughn got to ask the guys all the tough questions.

Oh, to have his job.  Or that of Rachel Maddow, who's obviously delighted at Barack Obama's latest Bush-repair-job:

But jealousy is a terrible thing and I've got RuPaul to call me out on it in her latest -- and most NSFW Japaninsane -- video:

Now boogie into your weekend!

Well that's just silly

It's not like we do 'hard news' on this blog (unless we're talking about Anderson Cooper...cause that would be...you know...hard news...oh forget it) but some days, the silliness is just over the top.  Today, for instance...

Prince William decided to take a leak by a fence and got his penis captured on film. That's idiotically silly.

Sarah Palin decided to hold a TV Thanksgiving interview in front of a man calmly slaughtering turkeys. She's endlessly silly:

The Globe and Mail's R.M. Vaughn says that "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson was one of his most difficult-to-arrange interviews. That's depressingly silly.

Failed US presidential candidate Mike Huckabee tells the 'View' ladies that gay rights can't be as taken seriously as the black civil rights movement because we haven't been beaten enough. That's offensively silly, as this somber video shows:

People over the age of 30 are using condoms less than teenagers. That's dangerously silly.

And the members of Monty Python who aren't dead have unveiled their very own YouTube channel. Rather than treat the millions of fans who post their sketches and film clips like criminals, the Pythons are embracing the format, asking only that we "click on the links, buy our movies & TV shows and soften our pain and disgust at being ripped off all these years." They're brilliantly silly, and we'll celebrate with a song:
