Butch Cuts and jj levine website launch

Tonight is jj levine's launch party, a rad friend and ex-classmate of mine who is also the famous hairdresser behind lesbian haircuts for anyone. Tonight, at Cagibi (corner St.Laurent and St. Viateur) at 7:30pm go! Dance party after and support for the talented artist. Also, in the States they have this $5 Butch Cuts thing, comes with t-shirts too... i'm tempted (for a t-shirt not a butch cut). (but some hotties look so cute with them, just so you know. since you asked, oh innernets).

Missiles, boobs, super heros and queer family love

Local queer actors and cultural producers (ie Artistes) came together to film a very special, very b-movie sci-fi space thriller premiering at Ste-Em's NEXT weekend. This week I spoke with producers Coral Short and Morgan about the process... READ ABOUT THE EVENT HERE.

The movie is about...
After the nuclear holocaust earth explodes... dna and plants gets sent in out of space. but the instructions are in english so the scientists dont understand. machines have taken over. and the machines represent work culture. A machine is a rebel and he feasts and has sex and then some other shit happens. And then surprise ending ensues!!!

Queer angle...
Everybodys is queer, some 9 year boys who like each other are questioning or gay or something. "there is a DIY asthetic and camp style to the film."

"We shot in on a queer person's land with a lake and many acres" in the Laurentians. some parts were filmed in the biodome, says Coral.

THIS IS DURING OUR AWESOME SKYPE-TERVIEW ON TUESDAY NIGHT! WE'RE AWESOME.

ALSO:
Coral: my fav movie maker is Karaoke moggots and men. we both like Annie Sprinkle. The one with the moustache.

Morgan: Audio Architect was behind the soundtrack.

fav music lately: sexy sushi! Justin Bieber! Ratatat! Miike Snow!

fav movie that the movie was sorta based on: Blade Runner

anything else:
Coral: the costumes are very diy and awesome because queers have good taste. it's very sexy. It's kinda like softcore porn.

Morgan: In the movie, MORGAN SEA is a super hero and also created some comic bubbles in the film.

Ste-Emilie SkillShare party is NEXT Saturday. See you there Squares!

Sook-yin Lee: Burn my Paris

Oh my jesus, Sook Yin Lee's first feature film, Year of the Carnivore, is almost out! Sort of.... The trailer makes me drool. Just listen to the description (and by listen, I mean read the following aloud): "SAMMY SMALLS is a 21-year-old tomboy who works as a store detective at Big Apple Food Town. Her job is to deliver shoplifters to her boss who beats them up so they never reoffend."

It's out in Montreal (Toronto, Vancouver) on June 18th. Also, Sook Yin was once (maybe still is?) bisexual.

Archive of hotness for cold winter hearts

Aside from the warm-blooded & beautiful humans screencapped below—(recorded for posterity & your viewing pleasure. obvi.)—I have here an ad from the w4w's missed connection section on Craigslist. It's the prettiest category of the site for the best little gems, on occasion.

This womyn's ad REALLY MAKES ME WANT TO HUM this TRACEY CHAPMAN SONG. I'm not even joking. So here's to you and your future pal, little lady. Also, this.

Expo about sexuality needs participants

Very exciting new project about sexuality. A friend of mine just sent me some information concerning the new exhibition being planned for the Montreal Science Centre, slated to then go on tour all over the world. This queer friend of mine urged many of us queer folks to participate in what the organizers are calling a frank look at sexual experience for people of all ages and gender. From their website:

"In this spirit of honesty and openness, we are looking for people willing to talk candidly about their sexuality — without bias, stereotypes or preconceived images."

So I agree. Let's rattle the cage. Let's destabilize some very rigid gender and sexual categories. You have to fill out the form, and then they might pick you. Fill it out here.

This friend is also asking that people submit pics to their Flickr group pool.
