The news according to the gospel according to Lina Harper

Maybe you've heard of the group on Facebook, Recognize Trans People as "Human" - Petition Bill C-389? Bill C-389 is basically legal protection for trans folks. A Community Advisory Panel survey is online. I THINK, it's important that your voice, your opinions and your recommendations be counted. Complete the survey here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/communityadvisorypanel. And encourage others to do so by USING your VOICE. (It's a privilege not a right. Just ask this Kenyan Pres.)  Also, Laura Beeston from the Link wrote this story a few weeks ago and I TOTES missed it. A guerilla plot to render Concordia bathrooms gender-neutral? AWES.

In other news, I've just moved all my crap from a three-floor house to a 1,000-square-foot apartment on the second floor. The innernets does not work there, boo. But I don't pay for heat, yay! I am living in sin with my ladyfriend, yay! I am never, ever moving again, boo!

Hello, rap ladies

The Well Versed has a great profile on female rappers, to help the masses go beyond Nicki Minaj and her full-tittied/mostly assed peers. Here in Canada we have Eternia, who is ok for a white girl (that's called a joke, please don't call the innernet police on me). But if you tread a little farther south, you'll find someone a little easier on the eyes. Invincible is fresh, best and ready to rap-press. (I CAN RAP TOO GUISE.) Download singles off the Well Versed article.

(RE?)teaching Gender and Sexuality

I love youth, and even more so QUEER youth. I've worked with youth for over 10 years and I fully support the power-with, not power-over framework. So let's hear what these dudes have to say... (warning, mega American).

Does the idea of shelling out several hundred dollars a year to pay for healthcare and other public services fill you with hope and cheer?

If not, you're not alone. Join, COCo - The Center for Community Organizations and hundreds of other Quebeckers to oppose the Charest government's regressive budget measures tomorrow at 11:45 am at the Conseil du Tresor, 500 Blvd Rene-Levesque Ouest. No to user fees and higher taxes, no to privatization of public services! No to Charest! Sign the petition for his resignation here, or email info@coco-net.org for more info.
