Goodbye, Jack. We'll miss you

The ticket wicket is now closed.

After three years and multiple cupcakes, Michael Cyril Creighton's Jack in a Box web series is finally over. Creighton talked about the end of Jack in a previous interview with Down East in August:

"Creating this show for the past three years has been a really important and huge part of my life. It was instrumental in my development as an actor and writer. And it has flown by. I never intended to go this long, but I just couldn't stop. It's kind of like my thing with tacos. Just. Can't.Stop."

Audiences couldn't stop watching, either, waiting to see how Jack would handle everything from new bosses to learning that his goody-two-shoed co-worker is "way pierced." Posting on his Facebook wall, Creighton said, "The final episode leaves Jack full of unsureness. I plan to take my own unsureness and use it for good. I have no idea what or when I'll create next . . . but I will. And when the time comes, I'll definitely post about it 575 times a day . . . 'in case you missed it.' Squeezies, MCC/'Jack.'"

Goodbye, Jack. Jack is gone. Long live Michael.

It's almost time to say goodbye . . .

Every once in a while, I get a lovely treat on my Facebook wall: a new episode of Jack in a Box by Michael Cyril Creighton.

But today, it was a little bittersweet. Creighton posted that after this one, there would be only one more episode to come.

Insert sad face here.

I contacted Creighton to get the scoop:

Can you tell me how it feels to have only one more episode?

Great. And scary. But mostly great. Actually . . . mostly scary. It changes from minute to minute. Creating this show for the past three years has been a really important and huge part of my life. It was instrumental in my development as an actor and writer. And it has flown by. I never intended to go this long, but I just couldn't stop. It's kind of like my thing with tacos. Just. Can't. Stop. But now, it's time to stop and figure out what my next thing will be. Luckily, when this is over I have a play that I'm in that goes up in October in New York. It's called Blood Play by The Debate Society. So that will keep me busy for a bit while I figure out what I'd like to create next.

 What can people expect?

I'll finally get naked and every character is going to be killed off Final Destination style. I hired a special effects person. It's so, so awesome. Also . . . I'm lying about all of that. I like to think of it as just another episode . . . which happens to be the last. And hopefully it will move some people. I think the series finale will leave people asking a lot of questions. I didn't want to make the future of the character too clear. I, of course, know what happens after the series ends. But I'd like to leave it more open to interpretation for the audience.

(Possible spoiler alert!)Do Beau and Jack finally bleach each others' hoops?

What a great idea for a spinoff. (No.)

An end to Monday doldrums, courtesy of Jack in a Box

I can't help it. I love Michael Cyril Creighton's "Jack in a Box" series.

I've blogged about them and even interviewed Creighton about his series. Lines from his show get referenced in my house. The characters are heinous and funny (as well as heinously funny) but loveable nonetheless.

Check out the most recent episode, "The Snake."

Mondays are better with Jack

It's no secret that Mondays suck.

You didn't get enough sleep on the weekend, you haven't been to the gym in a few days, and it's grey outside. It's like a giant "WTF" just slapped you in the face.

But it could be worse. You could be stuck in a cubicle with a new co-worker who whines more than a needy beagle.

Like Jack does.

My Monday morning was just made better with a new episode of Michael Cyril Creighton's Jack in a Box. Things can only go up now.
